What This Group Offers:

Understanding Gender:

We’ll start with the basics—exploring what it means to be transgender or nonbinary, how to build empathy, and how gender intersects with other aspects of identity. We’ll also address common questions and concerns, helping you feel more confident in your understanding.

Effective Communication:

We’ll share tools and techniques to foster open, supportive dialogue within your family. From addressing your child’s questions to navigating difficult conversations with others, we’ll practice strategies that encourage understanding and connection.

Family Dynamics:

Supporting your transgender child can impact your entire family. We’ll discuss how to navigate different reactions within the family, get on the same page with your partner(s), and work through any grief or fears that may arise.

Advocacy and Community:

Learn how to advocate for your child’s rights in schools, healthcare settings, and the broader community.

Medical Transition and Resources:

We’ll provide information on medical transition options, answer your questions, and offer resources to help you navigate these decisions. We’ll also provide you with a list of local practitioners, supportive services, and practical tools for your child’s journey.

Celebrating Trans Joy:

This group is about finding joy and pride in parenting a transgender child. We’ll share success stories, celebrate your child’s milestones, and connect with the broader tradition of queer and trans resilience and joy.

Group Details:

This is a closed group with limited participants to ensure a safe and intimate environment. We offer a sliding scale fee, making the group accessible to all. If the group is full, you can join our waitlist. We plan to offer this group at least twice a year.

Who Should Join:

This group is for parents and caregivers of transgender or gender-expansive children who are seeking support, community, and resources to understand better and support their child. It’s valuable to feel seen by important people in your life, regardless of age. It’s never too late, and no one is ever too old to be affirmed and enthusiastically accepted by their family.
